Omnicare Consultant Pharmacists are valued members of a facility's interdisciplinary team, helping them to achieve optimal outcomes for their residents - and their bottom line.
Consultant Pharmacist service begins with an introductory meeting with key staff members. Armed with a thorough understanding of the facility's unique needs, the consultant is able to provide a tailored program that encompasses the educational, regulatory and cost-containment concerns of the facility while assuring appropriate medication therapy for each resident.
Every Consultant Pharmacist visit includes one-on-one time with key leadership before and after the consulting session to ensure that critical information is shared and addressed promptly.
Monitoring medication management
To make things easier for you, we offer in-pharmacy automation. This state-of-the-art system offers another level of patient safety by dispensing medications more accurately and reducing time spent on correcting errors, helping your community avoid risk. Plus our clinical decision support software program, Omnicare System for Clinical and Cost Outcomes Retrieval (OSC20R), is fully integrated with our pharmacy dispensing computer system and further identifies potential clinical and regulatory opportunities — all helping to keep your community’s residents safer.
Staff education
In order to advance staff knowledge and help reduce risk in your community, we provide extensive educational tools and resources. For example, our Fracture Prevention Program is one of our major clinical programs that focus on risk reduction resources for both falls and fractures. And our Fall Risk Reduction Program includes assessment tools for fall risk and fall incidents, a fall incident report and a variety of clinical reference resources. These tools, among our other offerings, are designed to mitigate risk, which in turn will help your community thrive.
Infusion therapy support
Infusion medications for long-term care residents are prescribed every day. But with our support, you can both admit and care for clinically complex residents safely and effectively because we’ll train and certify your community staff. Our comprehensive Infusion Therapy Program is critical to successful outcomes, and enables your staff to manage infusion residents with confidence. Infusion therapy nurse educators provide a range of courses, and we offer several ways to help avoid risk:
We know regulatory compliance is a key component to your success — and it’s one of the keys of our pharmacy consulting program too. Your consultant pharmacist will guide you through the ever-changing state and federal regulations to keep you compliant and will work to help address specific areas of concern by:
